Private Apartments
The private interiors on the second floor are dedicated to members of the German princely family Schaumburg-Lippe from the second half of the 19th century.
Head to the second floor of the castle and immerse yourself into the world of aristocratic representation in the second half of the 19th century, when Náchod Castle was owned by the German princely family of Schaumburg-Lippe. This tour will take you through the rooms that were used for the daily life of the castle's inhabitants.
The tour begins in the arcade corridor, where you can look into the small clock tower, the dressing room, which houses preserved castle clothing, and the room of Dr. Jiří Guth-Jarkovský, who worked as a tutor to the princely children at the castle in his youth. The corridor also features seven safes containing a unique collection of orders, decorations, and coins.
The corridor leads to the south wing of the castle, which is decorated with Baroque painted beam ceilings, beginning with the Great Family Hall and continuing with the private apartment of the princely couple – Prince Wilhelm and Princess Bathildis. The apartment includes: a representative salon, the Bathildis’ salon, a shared bedroom, and Wilhelm's study. The castle wings are divided by a hunting corridor with trophies and weapons and a day room for the servants.
The last part of the tour takes you to the west wing of the castle, which consists of the princesses' room with original toys, the princes' clasroom with Jiří Guth's cabinet, and the rooms of Wilhelm and Bathildis's eldest children – Princess Charlotte and Prince Friedrich.
Tours of the castle are conducted in Czech only, but we provide English texts for reading for visitors from abroad.
The start times of tours are usually not fixed and are determined by the cashier based on visitor interest.
In May, June, and September, tours are available from Tuesday to Friday only at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
